With so many home scenting options available nowadays, how can you be sure you’re choosing the highest quality? And why is it so important? Quality matters, and here’s why...
LET'S START WITH THE PERFUMES
It’s pretty obvious, but it’s worth remembering: the perfume molecules diffused into the room are inhaled, and what you breathe in comes into direct contact with your lungs. So, inhaling a lower quality fragrance can increase the risk of respiratory irritation. A high-quality fragrance is simply better for your health.
Here’s what you can do to make sure you’re buying a high-quality fragrance for diffusion:
1. Buy high-quality blends made with high-quality ingredients.
Think about when you buy food. You want the best ingredients to make the best and healthiest dishes. You should consider room fragrance diffusion in the same way. You want the fragrance blend to be made with the highest quality ingredients so you have the best possible scent experience.
2. Look for information about how the fragrance ingredients are sourced.
Ideally, the ingredients come from suppliers who know their origin and have a relationship with distillers and manufacturers. Ingredients that have been ethically and sustainably sourced are an indication of these close and conscientious relationships.
3. Make sure the fragrance blend is made with ingredients that are non-allergenic and safe to inhale.
High-quality fragrances do not contain ingredients that cause allergies and contain ingredients that receive a safety clearance from IFRA, the International Fragrance Association.
4. The fragrance ingredients should not be harmful to humans or the environment.
It’s okay if the fragrance blend is made with only essential oils or blended with synthetic molecules. Just as some synthetic molecules can be harmful to your health, so can some natural materials. Quality ingredients are about identifying and using only what is safe.
THE DIFFUSER MATTERS TOO
The fragrance alone can’t produce the olfactory experience. You also need to consider the device you use to diffuse the scent. To create a high-quality diffusion experience, you need to use a diffuser that gives a consistent, clean, safe, and enveloping sensation.
Here’s what to consider regarding the diffuser:
1. The device should have good scent output.
What does that mean? Output is made up of the perfume molecules that are actually emitted into the air by the diffuser. There are two things to pay attention to:
First, the diffuser should produce a clean distribution of the scent into the air. You’ll notice that traditional air care products, such as ultrasonic diffusers with water and candles, can produce soot or leave moisture and residue on surfaces.
Second, the diffuser should ensure a safe output to breathe. Again, traditional air care products, such as scented candles, diffuse the scent by burning the oil. Combustion can range from 75% to 90%, so the rest becomes smoke, not safe for continuous inhalation.
2. Ideally, the diffuser should not heat the fragrance.
Heat is generally not friendly to essential oils. Heat is meant to diffuse the perfume molecules, but this often alters the chemistry of the fragrance and therefore the quality. Choosing an atomizer like those from Essenzapura that does not heat the fragrance ensures that you get exactly the scent you purchased and enjoy.
3. The diffuser offers an immersive olfactory experience.
A high-quality diffuser will make you smell the scent consistently, no matter where you are in the room. In general, reed diffusers and candles do not provide good coverage of the room's scent, and industrial diffusers to be inserted into wall sockets can often be aggressive and with an inconsistent smell.
4. The fragrance is experienced as a whole.
A fragrance blend is like a mosaic, each ingredient has its own scent, but all together they create a beautiful yet complex bouquet that should be appreciated in its entirety. Most diffusers release the fragrance ingredients in order of volatility. What does that mean? It means that most fragrances are not diffused as a whole, but rather in parts: first you will smell the top notes like citrus, then some heart notes like lavender, and finally the base notes like sandalwood.
For a superior olfactory experience, all the fragrance ingredients should express themselves "in unison". The CSAT technology used in Essenzapura diffusers is unique in that the top, heart, and base notes are released and felt all together!
5. The diffuser maintains a constant scent over time.
This means that the fragrance does not change as it diffuses. What you smell at the beginning is exactly what you smell after 5 minutes or 20 of diffusion. Furthermore, being programmable via mobile app, you can decide when they should emit the scent and with what intensity.
The advantage of Essenzapura atomizers over ultrasonic diffusers, moreover, is that the perfume particles emitted are so microscopic that they remain suspended in the air for hours, scenting the room even long after the device has been turned off. While ultrasonic diffusers only scent as long as they are on. As soon as they are turned off, the heavy water molecules still in the air fall to the ground, wetting surfaces, and the scent disappears.
So to get a superior fragrance diffusion experience you need to have both high-quality fragrance ingredients and a top-notch diffusion device. It's the perfect match.
